This is a half length dress with straps that tie at the shoulder, and the bodice closes in the back with 3 brown faux turtleshell buttons. I used a cotton fabric woven with a hawkeye pattern; stripes of magenta, purple, blue, forest green, orange, and golden yellow; and with sparkly magenta threads woven throughout. The bodice is lined with a purple fabric, and darted for a good fit. Empire waist is 32" around. The bottom part of the dress is pleated in the front and back where it meets the empire waist. There are 2 rectangular pockets at the front of the dress. The bust is about 34 1/2" around. The straps run 22 1/2" from front to back (with bow) when tied as far out as possible and can be tied as much shorter than that as you want (10" is about normal). Bodice is about 9 1/2" in the front from neckline to empire waist. The bottom part is 22 1/2" from empire waist to bottom hem. Bottom hem is 45" all the way around and there are 6" splits on each side for easy movement. All seams on this dress are folded under and topstitched- there will be absolutely no fraying!! Button holes are carefully hand sewn with magenta thread. *There seems to be more room in the bust when straps are loosened. Wash in warm water on gentle cycle, hang to dry.

This full length dress has a bodice made from a medium wale spring green corduroy on which i've hand appliqued and embroidered a butterfly. The butterfly is made from the same fabric as the rest of the dress- a midnight blue and cloudy purple batik spotted with dots of magenta, rusty orange, yellow, green and blue- which resembles a starry night sky. The bodice is darted for a nice fit and has batik straps which turn into laces for an open laced back for adjustability. The bottom part of the dress is A-line cut for a smooth, non bulky fit. There are 2 pleated front pockets, each tied with a drawstring-bow. At the bottom of the dress is a moderately pleated batik ruffle. The bust is 33" when back is closed all the way, and about 35 1/2" when open all the way (the empire waste is about 30" when closed, about 33" when open). The bodice is lined with the batik fabric, and is 9" in front from neckline to empire waist. Dress is 40 1/2" from empire waist to bottom of ruffle. Waist area is about 39" around, making the dress more suitable for a narrower waisted person. Bottom hem (bottom of ruffle) is 63" around. Lace holes are carefully sewn with magenta thread, and all seams are sewn under and topstitched, so there will be absolutely no fraying!! Wash in warm water on gentle cycle if possible and hang to dry.
